Our pedagogy centers around inquiry based learning, the Reggio Emilia Pedagogy and a set of core values.

Inquiry based learning

Inquiry-based learning encourages and requires the child to ask questions, fosters curiosity and develops creativity and problem-solving skills. Inquirers will identify and research issues and questions to develop knowledge or solutions.

The teacher’s role is more that of a facilitator.

In such way, it contrasts with “traditional learning” where teachers typically present facts and his or her knowledge about the subject.

Wisdomland believes that the Reggio Emilia Philosophy offers one of the best approached to inquiry-based learning and has therefore chosen to adopt this concept into its program.

Our task, regarding creativity, is to help children climb their own mountains, as high as possible. No one can do more.

Loris Malaguzzi

The Reggio Emilia approach was created by Loris Malaguzzi and originates from the city of the same name in Italy.

The program is very much student-centered and based on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery. Children develop their very own personality during their early years of life and can express themselves and their ideas with “100 languages”.

The Reggio Emilia philosophy is based upon a set of principles:

  • Children need to have and must have some control over the path of their learning
  • Children learn best through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing
  • Children want and need to explore their environment and their world – be it with other children, their parents, their teachers or subjects like toys.
  • Children do have and must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves.

Reggio Emilia values parents as our children’s’ first teachers. We truly recognize the importance of building a bridge between parents and the school in order to navigate the learning journey together. The early years of a child’s life are thrilling to be part of, and we are certain this philosophy helps shape children into who they eventually become.

In Reggio Emilia schools, spaces and the natural environment are important. The indoor and outdoor environment becomes the third teacher as it provides an avenue for children to wander, explore, and discover.

Accordingly, our teachers set up the learning spaces and environments to stimulate students’ interest and curiosity so that they experience inquiry-based learning in the very truest sense of the concept.

We strive to give children endless opportunities to express themselves: they need to touch, see, hear, taste, smell, and interact with new things in order to learn. Teachers receive training on how to let children explore within the topics and how to adapt lesson plans based on their students’ interest and engagement.

Core Values

Values are important to guide young children. Life Wisdomland Preschools centers around our core values Respect – Self awareness – Confidence – Independence – Curiosity – Cultural diversity.

Our teachers guide children to show respect to their families and friends through kindness and honesty . We teach children to respect their teachers, but we also instruct teachers to respect children; their feelings, their skills, and their personalities.

Our emphasis on self-awareness sets us apart. We are certain that children can understand complex topics and learn how to take care of their environment. We want to help children become mindful of themselves and their world.

By interacting with teachers, classmates, and an array of creative resources, our students develop confidence in themselves. Confidence leads to curiosity, which we always encourage! We believe that this early confidence precipitates future academic success.

We teach children how to do things on their own. We gently nudge children to try, try, and try again so they develop courage and perseverance and realize how much they can do for themselves. We provide assistance whenever needed, but we place emphasis on personal development and maturity.

Children learn how to recognizes value and strength of their own culture and origin and at the same time will understand the beauty of cultural diversity.
